Changing from shavings to straw
I nearly always use straw for bedding – it is cheap, usually easy to get, rots quickly in the muck heap and makes a nice warm bed.

Haylage makes a horse pee!
This is a feature of lots of horses in this yard, so I thought it was common, as some peeps mentioned it at the last yard i was at, though the haylage at the last yard was drier with no additives and was more like hay.

Chewing wood
When I replied the first time I was unsure what you meant by chewing wood – if you just mean they are eating bits of twigs then there is no real problem – in the wild, horses supplement their diet with all sort of different herbs, grasses, shoots and leaves.

Choking when feeding
Allen and Page Calm and Condition is great if you have a gannet, but you MUST soak it before you feed, it soaks up a lot of water and takes on the consistency of sloppy porridge, great for putting weight on my skinny tin ribs, people call him fat now!
