Biography
My early riding experience was with the New Forest Pony Club. I went to Hartpury College to study and gained a National Diploma in Equine Business Management and my first riding job was for Revel Guest Albert who owns the Cabalva Stud in Herefordshire where I rode numerous horses at novice level and gained a lot of valuable experience.
I left Cabalva in 1997 and worked for Adele Schardt at Somerley Park. This time the riding job was with slightly more experienced horses. My next move was to Norfolk to ride for Martin and Penny Podmore where I gained my first Advanced rides.
In 2000 I was offered the job as ‘stable jockey’ for David and Jane Tolley - it was a job I couldn’t refuse! This was my lucky break and I rode for them for four seasons. Starting at 2* level, I eventually went round two 4*s. They also provided me with a base of owners and a constant supply of horses to compete from PN to Advanced.
After four great years there, my partner Zanie and I felt we had enough experience in the eventing world to start our own yard together. We now have a fantastic set up with an exciting team of horses.
2007 was a great year with The Secret Weapon, who won both Barbury Castle and Blenheim 3*. There wasn't much to report in 2008 but I finished 2nd with a new ride Rudolf III at the 3* at Houghton Horse Trials in 2009. I am expecting great things from my up and coming horses!
