About this video

In this remarkably frank and insightful interview, top British dressage rider Anna Ross Davies tells Fiona Price about her highly unremarkable beginnings, her '8 day' working week, her lucky break and her rise to stardom finishing 10th at the European Champs' on Liebling in 2007, setting a British record. She gives an amusing account of the competition (where she started out as team reserve) and also talks about the influence of Ulla during her training in Germany. Anna tells of personal tragedy when she lost the ride on Liebling, how she picked herself up again and why she likes horses to have personality!

moveon 3 Jul 2010 I really respect Anna, she seems such a down to earth genuine person and someone who I really look up too. She has got where she is through sheer hard working and determination which unfortunatly is not the case with a lot of riders. She is definatley an inspiration to me!
Phelpsie's Boys 4 Dec 2009 Really enjoyed that, just as I've enjoyed and got a lot of inspiration from watching the videos of Anna working her horses. Must have been gutting to lose Liebling and good on her for picking herself up from it, wishing Anna and Pegasus MK every success at Grand Prix!
lottiedot 30 Nov 2009 Wow! That was enjoyable... I am also so pleased for once to see a top rider think about the horse being a horse and not a machine.
LadyJennivieve 15 Sep 2009 I love the piece of advice. What's the point of having a teacher if you don't do what you're told? LOL

Anna is articulate, grounded, thoughtful and sincere and this is a VERY professionally conducted interview with great diplomacy shown! I have never met Anna Ross Davies but have only ever heard positive things about her. In the dressage world "the boys" seem to get so much attention and support whereas it seems for the girls (unless from a monied background) they really do have to fight for everything and suffer a lot of backbiting on the way. If there is any justice Anna will go all the way and then some...heartbreaking when we lose our true horse friends but she gave Liebling the most fantastic start with some wonderful years and I am sure they will always be in each other's hearts. No-one can touch that. Go Anna!
