Ponies have bandages as well as boots for extra protection against stray balls, and competition bridles typically include a gag, two nosebands, a standing martingale plus draw reins. Riders wear protective pads on their joints, carry four reins and a whip in one hand and a polo stick in the other. One heck of a lot of gear!
