I have been training with a Classical dressage trainer for nearly a year now, I'm now riding the best i ever have been on a 4.yo. I'm not very experianced with training with young horses always found it a bit of a mystery. But now im training " Classically " i have trained my four year old brilliant upwards transitions, leg yeild, shoulder-in and now starting half-pass. Hes not upside down really easy in the hand and i have never found riding so easy. Everything seems to flow, apart from the rare braking problem but i think thats more him wanting to go for a jolly. I hardly ever use my hand and it feels great!!
I was wondering if anyone who does or doesn't train classically has found this out with young horses, and whether its the classical training or if its because i have a great horse and we work well together? Also if anyone has opinions on classical training?
Thankyou.x
