I have a big dilemma and wonder if someone could share their experience/advice...In a couple of months I need to make up my mind as to my next "career move".
I'm 29, freelance instructor (teaching for over 10 years) who really wants to take her dressage skills/knowledge to the next level. I've been looking for a dressage trainer in my area (South East) who also runs a riding school (so I can work as well as train) but with no success. On top of that, everyone seem to be looking for single teens :( I live with my partner and although we would be happy to relocate I would not like to move into student accommodation.
The big question is: are there any dressage yards where someone like me could train (and by this I mean not only usual yard work/grooming but also training to ride to PSG level one day) and be able to teach lower levels? Teaching riding is my whole life and I want to ride the best I can to be then able to coach the best I can but at my current work I have very little time for own training. So - do I forget my dressage dreams and and stick to finding a riding centre that will train me to BHSI or is there a Dressage yard out there that would take on a mature, ambitious instructor...?
Finally, is it at all possible to combine BD Apprenticeship or alike with teaching?
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Who knows? Anything is possible. In my experience, probably the best way to make things happen is to speak to people and allow the connections to begin. Ask everyone you know and ask them to ask their contacts. In addition, you should research the competition riders in your area that you admire and would like to work for and approach them. You just never know. It's partly about fit (you being right for them and they for you) but also about timing. You might just hit gold! Good luck.
