My comments comes from watching the video of Tori training with Hannah.

I could watch this combination all day. He is so lucky to be piloted by Hannah, long may this combination be together. I too have a Spanish horse, and he is doing exactly the same in his changes to the left..it's definitely work in progress with my chap. Thank you for allowing us to follow Tori's progress. Spanish horses often have a poor reputation in the UK, people say they can't extend! Well I hope that Tori changes people's opinion of Spanish horses, as they are such super horses with incredible temperaments. I feel that when people think of Spanish horses they immediately think of the Lippizaners (not sure if that's how you spell that), they are ofen short striding and find it difficult to extend. But here in Spain breeders are breeding the PRE (Pure Raza Espanol) - new name for the Andalusian - with much more movement in the shoulder, and they are breeding much bigger horses now; they can extend! like Tori has shown us. I have a pupil that has bought herself a jet black PRE, he's 4 and already stands at 16 hands, his movement is to die for, and extend, he just does it for fun. We have to be very careful with him as he could extend all day and it's not good for his ligaments. He is a stallion, and his temperament is like a lamb, yet he has real power and a forward thinking brain. She only paid 8,000 euros for him, cheap at half the price. I live very near to the famous Pereto stud, where they breed fantastic PRE horses. If anyone is thinking of buying a Tori, then contact the Pereto Stud. Foals (9 months) like Tori go for about 3,500 euros or less, depending on size, mares (which are thought or as breeding machines here) are even less. I hate the macho image here, everyone has to be seen on a stallion, if only they gave mares a chance to show them what they can do, my best horse was a mare. It's a very rare sight to see a mare competing here. If anyone is thinking that they would like to buy a PRE, then this is definitely the time to come over here and buy one! Spain is in a very deep depression and it's getting worse, I know of foals and young horses that went for slaughter as no one is buying at the moment and the breeders cant' sell the one's they have. My friend went to the slaughter place and bought herself a lovely Espanol Arabe (PRE x Arab) lovely horses. He was two and cost 600 euros, meat money. His movement is fantastic in all his paces. It's a very sad time for all animals over here at the moment, people just can't afford to keep them, dogs too are being dumped in the Campo (country) to fend for themselves, I often see walking skeletons scavaging around the bins...breaks my heart. Sorry to waffle on, but I just feel that it's a great time to pick up a real bargain here if you want a PRE, you could really barter the price down.

Hi Peaches
Just seen your post. I have a PRE that can lengthen in the trot too - and also in the canter although that is much harder for him to learn. he would always rather shorten. But I think he has a talent for dressage and I love him even if he hasn't. I have found him quite tricky tho, altho he is no longer a stallion. He can be quite stubborn and dig his feet in and refuse to move if he thinks the work is difficult and if I get too naggy. He needs to be coaxed mentally into firing up a bit and then he is super. He came from a yard near Barcelona.
good luck with yours - I wish I could afford to rescue some of the poor animals you write about.
