I was lucky enough to see the Kur at Olympia. I just wanted to say well done to Laura Bechtolsheimer, I think that she really did GB proud and I was very lucky to be able to be in a box just a couple up from her parents and I thought it was lovely when as she went out the arena, there was a roar of applause from their box! So well done, Laura. Did anyone else see this exciting competition and does anyone have any views on the scoring (right/wrong) and the horses? I loved the music they all did their tests to, especially the Elton John theme that Richard Davison used! So, what does everyone else think?

You were lucky to see the Kur. As yet I have only seen the video of Adelinde Cornelissen in the qualifier on the Olympia site. The results do show the marks awarded to each rider by the individual judges and it does seem that the judges did not agree on anything other than the first and last places. However, judging in dressage is subjective and so it will always be difficult for each judge to like the same performances. If one judge doesn't like the music a rider has chosen or doesn't like the way in which way a particular horse and rider combination work it is going to be difficult for them to mark them as well as other judges do.

I suppose that if you don't like the way a judge marks you then you have to either avoid performing in front of them or change sports to one where the judge is largely irrelevant and the winner is the one who has gone fastest, furthest or highest.
