I keep my pony in a local riding school, I am sure they teach the BHS aids for canter, but although my pony knows the canter aids, he cannot guess them, if the rider flapps legs to go faster, he will go faster, but will not break in to canter until the correct aids applied when he is in balance. Can we see a few attempts with recently backed animals. So far I have had to reject two riders on my pony, both lacking enough experience (yet having ridden for years), one has her mother (BHS qualified) giving her weekly riding lessons, and the second has only ridden riding school plods, so cannot cope with anything "outside the box" ie cantering in a field. I can't ride the horse for them, I am 63 years oold and am looking for a competant rider who can ride like I could when I was 15!
