  • Teaching new movements is so satisfying!

It’s been all go since my last blog! I was in England at the weekend with Markus he did a super clinic on my yard, it is the first time I have ever organized one and luckily it all ran smoothly. It was great to actually see some horses inhabit the new stables and use the new the school! Lots of people came to watch and it was a very friendly weekend. Georgie and Daniel Timson stayed in my house, they all loved my yard.

I will return home with my horses in two weeks time and Marne the American lady I have mentioned in my blog previously is going to base her two lovely horses with me full time. A lovely pony is also coming with me from Germany who I am selling for the owner. So it’s a good way to start with some new liveries and clients. I am considering leaving Rocco in Germany and going over to ride him as much as possible. It helps keep me connected with Germany, also I can ride some good shows there and then I will really keep my own training up as well which I think is very important.

Talking about Rocco I have had a crazy week with him, the little monkey is feeling fantastic in himself and has tried to buck me off a lot. But it struck me that we just changed all of the horses on to haylage. So I think perhaps I need to put him back on hay. It amazes me that it can affect horses so much but I have experienced this in the past with the hotter horses - it just can make them boil over.

I saw my heroine Isabell Werth riding in Capplen two weeks ago, she is really fantastic to watch but it is nice to see that she is only human and she too will make the odd mistake. Also, I must congratulate Laura and Alf as they did another brilliant test flying the flag high for Great Britain, once again. On the Saturday evening I had a quick drink with Jessica Werndl. I haven’t seen her since she was last here visiting Duke, and she was really happy that she had won her test earlier that day.

I am riding a six year old at the moment and starting to teach him the changes, he’s quite straight forward and I am teaching them on the diagonal line. Occasionally he jumps a little bit late to the aid but this is normal at this stage. Teaching new movements is so satisfying! This coming weekend it's the Bundesbank Championships in Germany, so I will go and watch on both Saturday and Sunday and of course there’s always the party on Saturday evening!
