About this video

In Part 2, composer Tom Hunt revisits Mike Eilberg and Monty to see how they have been getting on with his musical ideas for each of the basic gaits. The aim is to establish what Mike likes and what suits Monty in walk, trot and canter so that Tom can develop the theme for variations such as half pass, extensions and changes. Helped by father and trainer Ferdi Eilberg, Mike and Monty test the music out before spending time working on more difficult new moves they are planning to introduce to the floor plan. Mike says, "it's all about calculated risk!" Now Mike and Ferdi must complete the choreography so that Tom can write the entire score. More to follow!

Fiona Price 27 Jul 2010 I have no doubt Mike will ride at WEG at some point, if not this time! However, he is hoping to debut his Kur at the British National Champs' where we will be filming him.
dressagedude 27 Jul 2010 I am loving watching this process from every aspect. It's great to listen to the music and how it relates to the horse and it's also wonderful to watch Michael and Ferdi work on the movements of the kur with Monty. It is going to be fabulous to see it all together. Any chance this kur will be performed at the WEG this year?
Tom 22 Jul 2010 Hi LadyJ - my compositions are a mix of real and virtual instruments - I use real instruments as much as possible throughout but often when producing heavily layered orchestral arrangements I use VST instruments to capture the sound I need. This is quite common practice for modern composers/producers. T
LadyJennivieve 22 Jul 2010 Tom, are you composing by computer, or do you have a symphony orchestra at your disposal?
Tom 19 Jul 2010 Hi Fairycake - the demo music in this video was all originally composed by me for mike and monty. There may be similarities with certain film music orchestrations because that is the sound we are working towards for this kur. And the yard belongs to the Eilbergs. Cheers, Tom.
