About this video

Magenta is an an 11 year old mare who was 12th at Blenheim '09 and is Alex's 2012 prospect. Alex jumps Maggie at home in preparation for Badminton '10 and works on creating energy in the canter. Maggie is very minimalistic in her jumping which means Alex has to stir her up until she's switched on. This requires constant moving on and coming back in the canter. The flip-side is that she is unflappable and has never had any cross country jumping penalties in her career. The serpentine exercise is helpful for Maggie as it is intense and requires sharpness, rhythm and energy. (Maggie and Alex finished a credible 26th in their Badminton debut!)

JackieYoga 21 May 2010 Loved his sensitive riding of Magenta.
Goneriding13 10 May 2010 Many thanks for such a useful video, sounds exactly like my mare, a super unflappable temperament and will do anything for you but, as Alex says, it has it's drawbacks. Maggie looks a super horse.
Bri 8 May 2010 Lovely last serpentine jump. Lovely partnership with great understanding.
hhhorse 6 May 2010 Very useful video and great explanations. I so understand what Alex is saying as my mare is of a very similar temperament....lazy but talented once revved up! Many thanks!
