About this video

Jumping is part of the licensing requirement, even for dressage stallions! Lynne Crowden introduces us to two of her outstanding three year old stallions at the Woodlander Stud, Santana and Fleetwood Mac, who were licensed around a year ago. But first, they are let loose to stretch and play. Santana has some jumping blood and shows natural techniqe over a fence as well as scope, Mac has plenty of scope but less technique. Lynne explains how to set up a simple grid, whilst bereiter Carsten Sandrock handles the stallions. Both are keen so Lynne makes adjustments to steady the pace and improve the rhythm through the grid.

karen d 5 Nov 2010 WOW how I would love to own either of these boys, amazing movement and good to see them having fun over a fence.
woodlander 15 Aug 2010 Yes we do take steps to stop them jumping out. Firstly, the arena is surrounded by trees which are a further barrier but natural and uninviting. Secondly, we station people with whips where there are gaps at the end of the jump lane but also at the gate leading back to the lorry (and their friends).
Scotty 4 Aug 2010 Do you take any steps to prevent them jumping out over the arena fence, or are they unlikely to ever do that?
Duchess_Diaries 30 Jul 2010 I've seen loose jumping before but this was so much more productive than what I have previously seen. I also love Lynne's use of language and her calm approach to how the horses preform. I think I'll be setting up some poles tonight!
Alirules 27 Jul 2010 Excellent video, Fiona. Never thought of loose jumping a dressage horse! Gives me some ideas for my boys... just as a different way to train. thank you!
