About this video

Horse Hero's Fiona Price tries reining with the help of British team member Francesca Sternberg. Her mount, Fury, belongs to Francesca's daughter Tabitha who shows Fiona how it's done. It turns out Fury is a famous TV personality! Francesca explains that reining is 'centred riding', the aids are mere suggestions and courage is needed to let go of the contact. She talks Fiona through the 'controls' and explains the origins of the the jog and the lope. She says "think of the reining horse as a form of conveyance, when you put him in gear you just let him carry you". Fiona gets over the odd feeling and even manages a few tricks!

adrian 28 Mar 2010 Great video, looks like Fiona had a lot of fun. It's made me want to have a go at reining myself...
AngelaMcIntyre 4 Jan 2010 More reining videos please! BTW, Miss Muff, a Western Saddle is like a pair of nice leather boots. If you wear someone else's, you will probably suffer, but break one in to your own bum and it is like a second skin.
ChrisW 3 Jan 2010 Fiona makes such a good pupil!
Jodibonkers 28 Nov 2009 Fantastic! I've got an orange QH and would love to train western with him but have no idea how. Based in North Lincolnshire - I bet there is nothing nearby! Will have to investigate a little more.
Silver Snaffles 27 Nov 2009 I too have had a go western riding, but having been bucked off my own pony the day before was in pain before I got on!! I did find it uncomfortable. But in the video it looked just great. Well done Fiona.
