About this video

GB junior dressage rider Samantha Thurman-Baker prepares the 10 year old Welsh Section D for the National Championships, with the help of her mother and trainer Diane. Sam asks Connor (who is Advanced-Medium) to stretch and flex to soften his back and substantial neck. The Thurman-Baker's trademark 'lateral work on a circle' improves his suppleness. The main challenge is keeping Connor uphill and forwards in all moves including half pass and flying changes. Braving the rain, Sam also explains the art of the canter-halt transition. Amazing insights from an 18 year old, who competes at Grand Prix on her top horse Pascal.

Saffa 14 Nov 2011 Lovely to watch and lots of ideas. So nice to see different breeds.
Fiona Price 3 Nov 2011 I think it is rubber / tyre shreds and sand, Erin.
Erin019 3 Nov 2011 Love the shoulder-in and travers on the small circle. It works well with my guy too. Could you tell me what kind of footing is in the area?
diane 2 Nov 2011 Because he has a very thick neck to let him set it would enable him to block through his back, basically you keep the horses swinging and soft by keeping the neck soft.
