About this video

Grand Prix dressage rider Hannah Biggs works on rhythm, speed control, transitions and suppling with the four year old Archie. "Riding a serpentine on a youngster is a lot more difficult that you think" she says. "Every stride must be exactly the same, so it shows up any weakness". Hannah demonstrates how to apply the leg and uses transitions to get Archie to push more from behind. "The trot must swing like a metronome." In the canter, Hannah challenges Archie by reducing the size of the circle and also offers tips for improving a horse's weak side. "With young horses, it's a balancing act between pushing enough but not too much!".

Bravestrom 23 Dec 2011 Loved the video - I have a 17.2hh swedish WB that is four and a half - we are a little further along but really enjoyed watching what you did in the video.

YankeeSweet 23 Dec 2011 I actually took an entire year off dressage with my draft cross because he was pushed to fast and too much with his previous owner...He was still growing and awkward. We did alot of riding outside and on trails and learning all sorts of other things to build him up and help his balance. We have just now started back and he has a whole new and willing attitude. This video is very encouraging to me!
