About this video
This is the last behind the scenes piece from Olympia '08. It's mostly set to music and features lots of collecting ring activity which is often one of the most fascinating areas of any show! It gives a real flavour of what it's like for the riders and shows the sheer diversity of competitors. You'll recognise famous faces such as Ellen and Robert Whitaker, Laura Bechtolsheimer, Laura Kraut and Carl Hester and there's the odd surprise too! There is also an interview with show organiser, Malcolm Wallace.

JustHelen 25 Feb 2009 But remember, in higher competitions dressage riders don't wear helmets, they just wear top hats. Therefore, why warm up in a helmet just to take it off for the actual class?
Laura Bechtolsheimer 10 Jan 2009 Show jumpers always have draw rein on at shows!! I once borrowed one for a prize giving and the groom suggested I use draw reins and was very surprised when I said it would have to have a double bridle on!!
jules 8 Jan 2009 I am ashamed to say I had to rewind a little way to prove to myself that my eyes were not deceiving me and I did see a horse that was very proud of himself! Hilarious!! I am suprised that Olympia can allow riders not to wear hats - surely their insurance must then become invalid -not that I have a clue! Another fab video! Thanks.
Fiona Price 7 Jan 2009 True! Dressage riders seem to be the worst at not wearing hats. Personally, I don't agree but it's people's individual choice and each must be responsible for their own safety. Also, it wouldn't be possible to give you a taste of what happens behind the scenes at Olympia (the biggest indoor show in Europe) without showing it as it is! For those that feel strongly about this issue, maybe it will provide a motive to take an action which will help prompt change!
Suet 7 Jan 2009 Several without hats! Not a good example. Any one can have an accident!
